NYPD off-duty officer fires shot in Bronx during attempted robbery

CROTONA PARK EAST, Bronx (WABC) -- An off-duty NYPD officer fired a shot during an attempted robbery Wednesday in the Bronx.



Investigators said that a man approached the officer on Clinton Avenue in Crotona Park East. The suspect has not been found.



The officer was treated at St. Barnabas Hospital for minor abrasions, a hand injury and ringing in his ears, and released.



It was not known if the suspect was struck. A citywide hospital canvas failed to uncover a suspect



The investigation is ongoing.



Nothing was taken during the attempted mugging.
