FAIR LAWN (WABC) -- Police are looking for a suspect who fled after allegedly assaulting a female employee while shoplifting at a CVS in New Jersey.

The incident happened at the location on Fair Lawn Avenue in Fair Lawn.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 40s or 50s with salt and pepper hair.

He apparently was attempting to leave the CVS through the back entrance with a hand basket filled with Vicks cold medication and energy drinks totaling $241.65.

A 40-year-old female employee approached the suspect, but when she went to grab the basket from him, he swung his body around and struck her in the face, according to a police report.

He then apparently then dropped the basket and fled the store.

The suspect was last seen running through the rear parking lot to Warren Road. Police units were unable to locate him.

The female employee was evaluated by the Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corps. for an injury to her nose. She refused transportation to a hospital.
