Police: Young woman attacked in Greenwich Village rape attempt

GREENWICH VILLAGE, Manhattan (WABC) -- Police are investigating an apparent rape attempt in Manhattan on Saturday morning.

Officers say a man attacked a 20-year-old woman in Greenwich Village about 4 a.m. The man tried talking to the victim as she walked on 5th Avenue near 8th Street.

The man then grabbed the woman and touched her before she fought him off and ran.

The man was about 5'6" with a medium build, and was wearing a dark cap and backpack.
