Surveillance video captures Midtown jewelry store robbery; 2 sought
MIDTOWN, Manhattan (WABC) -- Police are searching for suspects in a string of jewelry store robberies in Manhattan, and they are hoping new surveillance video will lead to arrests.
Authorities believe the pair of men are behind three incidents, with the most recent happening Wednesday, December 2, just before 5:30 p.m.
The suspects entered Madison Jewelers on Broadway in Midtown and displayed a firearm while demanding jewelry and watches. They removed multiple pieces of jewelry before fleeing the scene.
The first robbery happened at Jewelry Patch on Seventh Avenue around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 19. The suspects displayed a handgun while demanding jewelry and made off with multiple items.
The third incident happened just before 1 p.m. on Friday, October 9, at the Kenjo Jewelry Store on West 57th Street. Police say one suspect brandished a firearm and demanded watches from store employees, and both suspects handed store employees bags to fill. The employees complied, and the suspects fled the store with an undetermined amount of watches.
The first suspect is described as a black male in his early to mid 30s, approximately 5-foot-8 with a stocky build. He was last seen wearing a blue button short sleeve shirt with a black long sleeve shirt underneath, a black baseball cap, khaki pants and dark-colored sneakers.
Suspect no. 2 is described as a black male in his early to mid-30s, approximately 5-foot-6 with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a blue button-down shirt sleeve shirt with a black long sleeve shirt underneath, black and red baseball cap with "USA" on the front, khaki cargo pants and black boots.
