Daughter of Officer Miosotis Familia shares details on her mom
Statement from the daughter of Officer Miosiotis Familia, killed in the line of duty.

MIDTOWN, Manhattan -- For the first time we're hearing from one of Officer Miosotis Familia's three children. Her 20-year-old daughter Genesis Villella had a written statement about her mother. It was read by John Hodge, the CEO of Tunnel to Towers.

Villella said her mother "was incredibly funny. She was so stunningly beautiful and always had a piece of wisdom to share with us." She also said her mother "went to work every day, proud to do her job, to protect us. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister and aunt...."

Officer Familia had three children, including a set of twins. The twins are 12 years old, and her oldest is 20 years old.

Stacey Sager has the details.

The 48-year-old was shot while sitting in the front passenger seat of a police RV early Wednesday morning. She was a 12-year police veteran and worked out of the 46th Precinct in the Bronx.

Maritza Ramos knows the heartbreak all too well. Her husband, Detective Rafael Ramos and his partner Wenjian Liu were also killed because they were police officers by someone who openly said he wanted to kill police officers in Bedford-Stuyvesant back in 2014.

On Wednesday in the Bronx, the murder of Officer Miosotis Familia played out like a horrible broken record.

"And you hope that it stops, and that we never have to be standing here again, asking for donations to help poor children left without a mother or a father," says Ramos.

Mayor Bill de Blasio also started a fund. Click here for information on how to donate.
