The Old Jail Museum is full of history, ghostly encounters.
The old City Jail, located in Jim Thorpe Pa., has been a hot spot for tourists looking to learn about the history and the haunting ghost stories.

JIM THORPE, Pa. -- A somber monument in Jim Thorpe since 1871, The Old Jail Museum is packed full of history and haunts. The jail has housed criminals for the past 124 years until its closing in 1995.

Of all the inmates, the most notable are the Molly Maguires.

This group, formally coal miners, were convicted and sentenced to death by hanging within the walls of the jail.

The most violent crime committed by the Molly Maguires was murder. They were charged with killing their bosses and also other miners due to a pursuit for better pay.

The story of the prison doesn't end there. With the closing of the jail came along an opening to the public.

The staff now conducts regular tours along with their special ghost tours that take place during the month of October.

The tour is full of various visitor and staff encounters with the supernatural. From the swinging ropes on the gallows, to orbs and even voices, this place has it all.

The old Jail Museum will give visitors a sense of what life was like for an inmate in the 1800's.
