Thousands camp out for 'One Direction' concert in Central Park

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Thousands gathered and slept over in Central Park Monday night, hoping to get either a good seat or a ticket to the just-scheduled "One Direction" concert Tuesday morning for "Good Morning America".

The popular boy band now has the number one song in iTunes.

They were in pretty good spirits considering some of these girls have been here since early Sunday.

They've been sleeping and sitting on stones for the last day and a half. It's not a job. It's a vocation.

"One Direction," which will perform on "GMA," is a phenomenally popular English and Irish boy band.

The band lost founding member Zayn Malik, who left to start a solo career, but the girls are over it. The fans are ready to move on because they just love everything about them.

Sleeping on rocks, making signs, pitching tents? Could it be worth all that?

Yes. "I'm so excited!" a fan said.
