WATERFORD, Mich. (WABC) -- His selfie with his smiling new rescue dog lit up the internet this week, but because of town regulations, the two new best friends could be torn apart.
Diggy's new owner, Dan Tillery, lives in Waterford, Michigan, which has a ban on pit bulls.
Tillery didn't think there would be a problem, because Diggy was classified by a vet as an American bulldog, but Waterford Police called Tillery, and told him they think Diggy is a pit bull, and he has three days to get rid of him.
"I'm not going to give Diggy up. I don't want to give Diggy up," Tillery says
Tillery has filed paperwork, and is hoping Township officials will allow Diggy to stay.
Police say they will be okay with Diggy if he is verified to not be a pit bull by a veterinarian that they choose.
