81-year-old woman killed in Brooklyn apartment fire, several others injured

PROSPECT LEFFERTS GARDENS, Brooklyn (WABC) -- An 81-year-old woman died in an apartment fire in the Prospect Lefferts Gardens section of Brooklyn early Friday.

Fire broke out in her apartment on Winthrop Street just before 12:55 a.m.

Firefighters found the victim dead in her fourth-floor apartment.

Several others were treated for minor injuries.

Firefighters say they found a cluttered apartment.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
