Free things to do with your family for the Fourth of July

LONG ISLAND (WABC) -- Long Islanders are ready to celebrate the 250th anniversary of America's independence - and there are many free options for entertainment.

People were gathered outside of Republic Airport in East Farmingdale to get a glimpse of the U.S. Navy Blue Angels. They will be practicing on Friday ahead of the 2026 FourLeaf Air Show at Jones Beach on July 4 and 5.

Anyone looking to explore American history can head to Sagamore Hill, also known as the "Summer White House." It is no cost to roam the grounds of President Theodore Roosevelt's home, visit the old orchard museum, and explore the nature trails on the property.

Those feeling adventures can partake in the "Redcoats and Rebels" Long Island History Hunt - a free scavenger hunt from Brooklyn to Montauk. It will take you to 26 historical sites, including Sagtikos Manor, built in 1697, where President George Washington stayed overnight during his tour of Long Island in 1790.

There are also a swath of parades and celebrations in towns and villages across Long Island.
