Home destroyed during fire in South Bound Brook, elderly couple pulled from structure

At least 2 injured, including firefighter, in NJ house fire

SOUTH BOUND BROOK, New Jersey (WABC) -- A South Bound Brook home was destroyed during an early morning fire.

An elderly couple was believed to be in the home on Howard Avenue when it went up in flames just before 4 a.m. Friday.

One resident was taken to the hospital, the condition of the other is unknown.

One firefighter is being treated for a minor head injury.

The fire collapsed the second floor of the home, destroying the structure.

The Somerset County Prosecutors Office is investigating.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
