NEWARK, New Jersey (WABC) -- Nearly two dozen people have been displaced after a fire ripped through a home in Essex County, New Jersey on Saturday morning.
Video captures firefighters on scene as heavy flames and thick smoke billowed from the building just before 5 a.m. on Dover Street in Newark.
According to Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, a total of 18 people, including 13 adults and five children, have been relocated as a result of the fire. Four people, including a child, were taken to an area hospital for smoke inhalation.
The fire was put under control around 7:10 a.m.
While responding to the scene, officials say a fire truck was struck by a car near South 17th Street and Avon Avenue. The collision caused the car to flip over and hit three other parked vehicles.
A firefighter and the driver of the car were both transported to University Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The American Red Cross says it is assisting residents impacted by the Newark fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Newark Department of Public Safety's Arson Unit.
