House fire in Valley Stream displaces 4 residents

VALLEY STREAM, Long Island (WABC) -- Firefighters battled a heavy house fire on Long Island late Tuesday, leaving four residents displaced.

The Valley Stream Fire Department responded to reports of a house fire at 10:23 p.m. Tuesday on West Euclid Street in Valley Stream.

Thick smoke and flames poured out of the second floor of the home. The residents escaped on their own.

The Valley Stream FD was assisted by neighboring departments, with about 100 firefighters responding.

They were able to bring the fire under control within an hour and 20 minutes.

No other injuries were reported.

The Red Cross is assisting with housing.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
