ROCKAWAY PARK, Queens (WABC) -- The NYPD jumped into action on Wednesday afternoon to help rescue a pregnant woman in need of assistance on a boat.
NYPD Aviation Unit helicopters made their way to a chartered fishing boat two miles off the coast of Jacob Riis Park at approximately 2:55 p.m. after a report of a woman having contractions.
She didn't need to be extracted by helicopter, but was transferred to a NYPD Harbor Unit boat at the scene.
The woman was then taken to the Kingsborough Community College dock, where she was then taken by ambulance to Maimonides Medical Center in stable condition.
