Man postpones proposal to thwart robbery

HICKORY, N.C. (WABC) -- A romantic moment was interrupted in North Carolina when a man postponed his proposal to thwart a robbery.

Nick Anderson took his girlfriend out to dinner in Hickory, intending to ask for her hand in marriage. As he was getting ready to pop the question, a man walked up to the register, and demanded cash.

The robber and an employee got into a scuffle, so Nick stepped in and grabbed the crook from behind, holding him until police arrived.

Police took the suspect into custody, and Nick got back to the reason for the dinner date.

By the way, Nick's girlfriend is now his fiance.
