JAMAICA (WABC) -- Detectives in Queens are searching for the shooter who gunned down a businessman at a Queens bar.

The victim was 35-year-old Timothy Tripp. His friends tell Eyewitness News he was out celebrating his birthday when he was shot and killed.

Police say Tripp was shot in his head and torso.

The call came in around 2:30 Saturday morning. Paramedics rushed to the scene on 125-22 Merrick Blvd, but there wasn't much they could do.

Tripp, who Eyewitness News is told coaches a local football team, died inside the bar.

Tripp runs a clothing shop on Baisley Boulevard, called "The Men's Room". He was also very active within the community.

There are cameras attached to the bar and lounge, and police will be revealing the surveillance video to see they can identify the suspect or suspects.
