50 rabbits up for adoption in Union Square on Saturday

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Dozens of rabbits saved from squalid conditions in Brooklyn are hoping to hop their way into your heart on Saturday.

The ASPCA and Ani-Care Animal Hospital will host two adoption events in Union Square and at the Central Park Zoo for nearly 50 bunnies.

"These rabbits have demonstrated an incredible level of resilience and are more than ready for the comforts of a permanent home," said Howard Lawrence, vice president, APSCA Anti-Cruelty Group. "We thank our rescue partners for helping to care for these rabbits over the past year, and we hope people will open their hearts to give them the loving, safe homes they deserve."

That's only a portion of the hundreds of bunnies that were rescued back in January.

There is a $25 adoption fee which includes a cage and water bottle. All rabbits are spayed or neutered. Potential adopters should bring one government-issued photo ID (i.e. driver's license, passport, military ID, or non-driver ID), proof of address, and contact information for a personal reference. Adopters must be 21 or older.
