Severe flooding in Rockland and Bergen Counties
Carolina Leid reports from Northvale.

TAPPAN, New York (WABC) -- Heavy flooding has impacted parts of Rockland and Bergen Counties after a storm passed through the area.

Images could be seen of cars that were completely flooded in the waters after heavy rainfall Friday afternoon in Tappan, NY as well as in Bergen County, New Jersey.

Still, people took their chances driving through flooded streets in the Rockland County Borough of Northvale.

Many didn't have a clue how dangerously deep the water was outside the Boston Market on Route 303 until it was too late to turn around.

"Don't drive through anything that you can't see the bottom of," a driver said.

An Eyewitness News viewer shared video showing cars under water outside the Wendy's across the street in the Rockland County Hamlet of Tappan.

Tow truck drivers in the nearby Bergen County Borough of Norwood rolled up their pants and waded through knee deep flood waters to pull vehicles out of this mess.

Craig Maniacca from Bergen Brookside Towing says sometimes it's a waiting game.

"If the truck gets wet it stalls and then we're in the same predicament as he is. We just have to wait until it just dries out," Maniacca said.

Heavy downpours are expected into Saturday.
