RAMAPO, Rockland County (WABC) -- Police in Rockland County rescued a baby deer that had gotten stuck in a storm drain.
The newborn fawn cried as it was lifted out of a storm drain by Ramapo officers after it became trapped overnight.
The fawn was carried to the other side of the street and gently placed in a grassy area, where it tried to walk before laying down.
Authorities hoped the mother -- seen in a nearby wooded area but too afraid to emerge -- would come after hearing the fawn's cries.
It is presently unclear if they were reunited.
