RIVER EDGE, N.J. (WABC) -- Flames were shooting from the roof of a house in Bergen County, N.J. Tuesday afternoon.

The fire happened at a 2 1/2 story private home at about 3 p.m. on Bogert Road in River Edge.

Firefighters called for a third alarm on the fire. Smoke could be seen for miles coming from the home.

At one point, firefighters had to be evacuated from the home because of the fire conditions inside. A portion of the roof collapsed as a result of the fire.

Here is video that was posted to Twitter showing the fire at ground level:

The fire chief said the family who lives there was not home at the time, but some construction workers were at the home doing work at the time. Investigators are looking into what caused the fire.

No one was hurt in the fire.
