2024 World Series: Schedule, postseason bracket, standings
The 2024 World Series is here!
For the third year, the 12-team postseason kicked off with an action-packed wild-card round, featuring eight teams battling for four spots to advance to the eight-team division series. The Astros, Orioles and Braves were all swept by their wild-card opponents, sending the Tigers, Royalsand Padres on to the division series. In this year's only Game 3, Pete Alonso and the Mets stunned the Brewers with a ninth-inning go-ahead homer to move on.
The Phillies became the first team knocked out of the divisional round when the Mets closed out Game 4 at Citi Field to upset Philadelphia. The Mets now face the Dodgers, who defeated the Padres in a decisive Game 5, in the NLCS. Meanwhile, in the American League, the Yankees advanced to the ALCS, where they beat a Guardians team fresh off an ALDS Game 5 win over the Tigers.
The Yankees put away the Guardians in a hard-fought five-game ALCS triumph and will face Dodgers in the World Series after L.A. ousted the Mets in six games.
