Boston Red Sox All-Star third baseman Rafael Devers (back) will miss at least one more game

BOSTON -- Red Sox All-Star third baseman Rafael Devers will miss at least one more game -- the series finale against the New York Yankees -- because of a sore back that forced him to make an early exit on Friday.

Boston manager Alex Cora said before Saturday night's 6-5 victory over New York that Devers is "out today and tomorrow. We'll see how he feels on Monday. We've got to take care of him."

On Friday, the 25-year-old Devers was selected as the American League's starting third baseman for the second straight year. Hours later, Devers hurt his back crashing into a side rail going for a foul ball at Fenway Park. He looked awkward taking a swing in his next at-bat before leaving the game.

Through Friday, Devers led the club in both batting average (.327) and homers (19) with 51 RBIs. As play began on Saturday, he was second in the majors with 106 hits.

Later Saturday, Alex Verdugo hit a tying single in the eighth inning and a winning two-run single that capped a three-run 10th, lifting the Red Sox over the Yankees.

Before the game, Boston sent right-handed pitcher Connor Seabold to the 15-day injured list with a strained right forearm and infielder/outfielder Christian Arroyo to the 10-day IL with a strained left groin.
