Tina Charles became the Liberty's all-time leading scorer Tuesday, passing Vicki Johnson with 3,248 points, in New York's 78-73 loss to the Los Angeles Sparks.
Charles' last basket of the game moved her past Johnson. She finished with 21 points and 14 rebounds.
"It means a whole lot," Charles said after the game. "This franchise means the world to me, so for that to happen, I would of never imagined it. I'm just grateful to be able to play in my city, New York."
The loss was the 16th straight for New York (0-3) dating back to last season.
