New Jersey Devils star forward Jack Hughes was ruled out of Tuesday's game against the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs due to an upper-body injury.
Devils interim coach Travis Green would not specify how long that Hughes would be out of action.
Hughes has a team-leading 27 goals and 74 points in 62 games this season for the Devils, who are five points behind the Detroit Red Wings for the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.
New Jersey has four games remaining in the regular season.
Hughes, 22, has 281 points (114 goals, 167 assists) in 306 career games since he was selected by the Devils with the No. 1 pick in the 2019 NHL draft.
