The funniest reactions to Steve Harvey announcing the wrong Miss Universe winner

The 2015 Miss Universe pageant had a shocking finish on Sunday night when host Steve Harvey accidentally announced that Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez, as the winner, when in fact it was Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, who won.



Harvey corrected his mistake onstage and announced Miss Philippines as the correct victor, but the initial gaff still generated a lot of hilarious reactions and memes online.



Many social media users related Harvey's mistake to Justin Bieber's song "Sorry."









Some suggested Harvey host the Oscars, so that frequently nominated actor Leonardo DiCaprio would win.








Lyrics from Adele's new hit song "Hello" and Wiz Khalifa's "See You Again" were incorporated into the meme mix.









Some social media compared Harvey's gaff to the infamous moment at the 2009 VMA Awards when Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift.








The New York Giants' Odell Beckham Jr. also jumped in on the meme fun.








Harvey was depicted as Homer Simpson disappearing into bushes after his mistake.








Some social media users brought up the scene where Lindsay Lohan breaks a tiara in Mean Girls.








Others referenced Keenan Thompson's goofy portrayal of Steve Harvey on Saturday Night Live.








One meme showed a smiling Harvey with a caption mistaking day of the week it was








Oprah Winfrey from the classic moment when she announced she'd be giving a free car to everyone in her audience, but announcing everyone would be crowned Miss Universe instead.








Former American Idol finalist Clay Aiken poked a fun jab at Harvey.








Harvey posted a apology to the contestants and viewers to Twitter after the pageant. The host originally had tweeted another apology where he had misspelled the names of the contestants' home countries, but has since deleted his tweet.










Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez, expressed her thoughts after being mistakenly crowned winner of the pageant. Gutierrez wiped away a few tears while and said "everything happens for a reason," when her supporters shouted "we love you."
