STONY BROOK (WABC) -- Suffolk County police are looking for the driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run that claimed the life of a 25-year-old man Wednesday night.

Authorities said Stony Brook University graduate student Artem Ayzen was rollerblading on North Country Road in Stony Brook when he was hit by a driver in a dark-colored SUV just before 11 p.m. The driver left the scene.

The driver fled the scene. Police believe the vehicle would have front-end damage.

Ayzen is from Brooklyn and was studying to get his Ph.D. in electrical engineering at Stony Brook. His academic adviser said Thursday that he was incredibly bright, kind, and generous with his time.

Ayzen was rushed to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
