3-year-old boy falls out of window in Elizabeth

ELIZABETH, New Jersey (WABC) -- A 3-year-old boy fell out of a third story window Friday night in New Jersey.

It happened on Ripley Place in Elizabeth just after 8 p.m.

The toddler appears to have avoided serious injury by hitting a second story awning before he fell on to the sidewalk below.

He was taken to University Hospital in Newark as a precaution.

The fall appears to be accidental, according to police.
