Man involved in car crash hit by another car once outside of vehicle on FDR

NEW YORK (WABC) -- A man who got out of his disabled vehicle after getting into an accident along the FDR was struck by a car and seriously injured.

The initial crash happened in the southbound lanes near East 40th Street.

The victim was struck while walking into the northbound lanes.

The driver who struck him stayed at the scene.

He is listed in serious but stable condition and expected to survive.
