QUEENS, NY (WABC) -- A Brooklyn man has been arrested and charged with trying to sneak a gun through airport security inside a video game console.
Transportation Security Administration officers at John F. Kennedy International Airport detected parts of a .22 caliber semi-automatic handgun concealed among the unidentified passenger's belongings as he tried to board a Wednesday morning flight. Officials say various components of the gun were found hidden inside the PlayStation 2 and others were tucked alongside a tripod.
The officers removed the bottom of a PlayStation, which was in the man's carry-on bag. Inside, they say, was a piece of a .22 caliber gun. The TSA officers reported also finding a children's video game with the console titled, "Nicktoons: Attack of the Toybots".
Port Authority Police were called to the checkpoint where the man was arrested on a weapons charge. He was originally ticketed to fly to Mexico City.
