Fire burns through church in Washington Heights

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS (WABC) -- Fire tore through a small storefront church in Washington Heights early Monday morning.

The fire broke out in the Iglesia Pentecostal Primitiva La Ultima Cosecha on Amsterdam Avenue just before 4:30 a.m.

Fire burned through the first floor church before it was put under control.

A family living in an apartment above the church was evacuated.

The fire is under control. The cause is under investigation.
