AccuWeather: Sun and cirrus, humid

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Saturday, the first day of August, brings more sunshine with some high clouds drifting overhead. Conditions should remain dry during daylight hours through the weekend.

Sunday will bring a mix of clouds and sunshine along with humid conditions, but most locations are expected to stay dry during the day. Any thunderstorms that develop are likely to hold off until late in the day or during the nighttime hours. If storms form before sunset, the greatest likelihood will be across the Catskills.

The extended forecast becomes more challenging early next week as a frontal boundary approaches the region. Showers and thunderstorms are expected on Monday, with the front potentially lingering nearby into Tuesday and Wednesday. At this point, the best chance for rainfall appears to be south of New York City, including portions of central and southern New Jersey. Forecast confidence decreases during this period because small shifts in the front's position could significantly impact rain chances.

By next Thursday, a mix of clouds and sunshine is expected. While no extreme heat is anticipated, conditions will remain warm and humid through the early part of next week.
