NEW YORK (WABC) -- A stretch of comfortable early summer weather is setting the stage this week, beginning with a nearly flawless Tuesday across the area.

Skies will remain mostly sunny from morning through afternoon, with low humidity helping to keep conditions crisp and pleasant. Temperatures will start out in the 50s and 60s before climbing into the 70s later in the day, delivering what can best be described as a picture-perfect June afternoon. The overall feel will closely mirror the pristine conditions on Monday, with dry air and clear skies combining for an ideal outdoor backdrop.

The quiet pattern, however, begins to shift as the middle of the week approaches. By Wednesday, clouds will become more dominant, and the atmosphere will take on a more unsettled feel. Periods of showers and possibly a few thundershowers are expected to develop, although rainfall will likely remain scattered rather than widespread. Humidity levels will also creep upward, making the air feel noticeably heavier compared to the start of the week.

Conditions remain somewhat uncertain heading into Thursday, when warmer and more humid air settles in. The chance for showers and thunderstorms continues, with timing that could prove problematic for outdoor plans. There is potential for activity earlier in the afternoon, and while the risk of heavier downpours or thunder is not especially high, it cannot be ruled out entirely. This could have implications for scheduled events, as even a brief passing shower may interrupt otherwise warm conditions.

Relief from the unsettled stretch arrives by Friday, when a drier and less humid air mass begins to move in. Breezy conditions are expected, with temperatures reaching around 80 degrees. Some cloud cover may linger, particularly across southern areas, but the overall trend favors improving weather. That pattern continues into Saturday, bringing bright skies, comfortable air, and a steady breeze that may be noticeable at coastal locations and during outdoor sporting events.

Looking ahead to Father's Day, the forecast is trending more favorable. Current indications suggest that most of Sunday will remain dry, with only increasing cloud cover through the afternoon. Any rain is more likely to hold off until Sunday night and then continue into Monday.
