Sentencing delayed for hit-and-run driver who killed couple, baby in Brooklyn

WILLIAMSBURG (WABC) -- Sentencing for a hit-and-run driver convicted in the deaths of an expectant couple and their baby has been postponed until next week.

Prosecutors want Julio Acevedo sentenced as a "discretionary persistent offender" because of prior convictions, which could mean life in prison or more than 70 years. But Acevedo's lawyer, Scott Brett Schneider, argues the most recent conviction dates back to 2002 and that it was a plea deal.

Prosecutors need time to compile Acevedo's record for sentencing.

Acevedo was speeding when he crashed into a livery cab carrying Nathan and Raizy Glauber in 2013 in Williamsburg. The couple's baby was delivered, but did not survive.

Acevedo's sentencing is now scheduled for March 26.
