Yoko Ono released from hospital after suffering flu-like symptoms

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Yoko Ono's son, Sean Lennon tweeted Saturday that Ono was released from the hospital.

Yoko Ono was hospitalized at Mount Sinai West Hospital for flu-like symptoms, the same hospital where Lennon was pronounced dead. At the time, it was called St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital.

Elliott Mintz told The Associated Press on Friday that Ono went to the hospital on the advice of her doctor. He said media reports that she had had a stroke were not true.

Ono, who turned 83 last week, arrived at the hospital and medical staff decided to admit her, Mintz said.

But "It was nothing," he added.

Ono is the widow of John Lennon of the Beatles. A Fire Department spokesman said an ambulance was called to Ono's apartment building at 72nd Street and Central Park West in Manhattan around 9 p.m. Friday.

The couple's son, Sean Ono Lennon said in a tweet that his mother was fine and did not suffer a stroke. He said it was "just dehydration/tired" and he thanked the public for their concern.

Ono has lived in the luxury apartment building on Manhattan's Upper West Side since 1973. John Lennon was shot and killed in front of the building on Dec. 8, 1980.
