Child found in car after chase

LONG ISLAND Authorities say they tried to pull over a 2007 Nissan Altima for a traffic violation. The driver subsequently fled the scene.

During the pursuit, authorities say the vehicle crashed into another car at Nassau Road and Babylon Turnpike in Roosevelt, where the suspect got out of the vehicle.

The chase continued on foot, according to police, and the suspect was caught and arrested.

Police say they then found a 2-year-old child strapped in a carseat in the back.

The boy, reportedly the suspect's child, was taken to Nassau County Medical Center for evaluation.

The 27-year-old father is charged with reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child.
