Crane collapse in Lower Manhattan

LOWER MANHATTAN-WABC The incident happened at 449 Washington Street, near Watts Street.

No injuries were reported at this time, but several buildings have been evacuated as a precaution.

Authorities say they fear a secondary collapse, and the evacuations include both residential and commercial buildings.

A 200-foot safety zone has been established around the damaged crane.

Street closures include Watts Street between West Street and Washington Street.

Authorities expect the damaged crane to be stabilized by midnight.

Pedestrian and vehicular traffic remain closed within the safety zone, as well as the businesses that are within the zone.
