NYC urgers fans to take Mass Transit:

New York City Transit is giving advice to people planning to go to the Giants' Super Bowl victory parade in Lower Manhattan.

The parade route along Lower Broadway -- called the Canyon of Heroes -- has hosted more than three dozen ticker tape parades since 1896. The area is served by nearly a dozen subway lines -- but NYC Transit warns that fans should avoid the Number 4-5-and-6 lines because they normally are packed with weekday passengers.

Transit says parade goers should consider taking the 2 and 3 lines to Chambers Street or Wall Street. Or take the "J" train to Broad Street.

Transit says overcrowding at City Hall, Park Place and the Brooklyn Bridge - City Hall stations may force trains to bypass those stations during the parade and ceremony at City Hall.

LIRR and Metro-North adds trains for parade:

Metro-North and the Long Island Rail Road will be adding trains for people wanting to go to the Giant's Super Bowl victory parade tomorrow.

Metro North says on the Hudson Line, a train originating in Poughkeepsie at 8:41 a.m. will make stops in New Hamburg, Beacon and Peekskill and arrive in the city at 10:11 a.m. A return train departs at 2:36 p.m.

On the Harlem Line, a train departs Southeast at 8:30 a.m. and stops in Brewster, Goldens Bridge, Katonah, Mount Kisco, Chappaqua, North White Plains and White Plains. It arrives at Grand Central at 9:48 a.m. A return train departs at 3:25 p.m.

No extra trains are planned on the New Haven Line, but extra cars might be used.

The Long Island Rail Road has not yet come out with it's extra train schedule, but it says one is coming.

PATH service to parade:

PATH will double its midday service to the World Trade Center on Tuesday, February 5, to accommodate fans attending the ticker-tape parade for the New York Giants, scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. in lower Broadway.

PATH will extend morning rush-hour service on the Newark-to-World Trade Center and Hoboken-to-World Trade Center routes from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. On the Newark-to-World Trade Center route, trains will run approximately every 7 to 8 minutes during the midday period, compared to every 15 minutes during a normal schedule. On the Hoboken-to-World Trade Center route, trains will run every six minutes during the midday period, compared to every 12 minutes during a normal schedule.

Additional police and PATH customer service personnel will be in PATH stations and at the World Trade Center Station to assist passengers.

PATH's World Trade Center Station is located a block from the parade route on Broadway.

New Jersey Celebration:

New Jersey won't be left out of the New York Giants' Super Bowl celebration.

The team plays its home games at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, and they will celebrate there at 4 p.m. Tuesday, after a ticker-tape parade in New York City.

John Samerjan, spokesman for the New Jersey Sports and Exhibition Authority, says the Giants Stadium event will be free and feature the team's players, coaches and officials.

"It's like a welcome home," Samerjan said.
