Police: Wife of doctor forged prescriptions

Accused of forging prescriptions for OxyContin
NEW YORK They say she forged prescriptions from her husband's prescription pad and redeemed them at pharmacies from Rocky Point to Riverhead.

Terryann Bernard, 49, of Wading River, is facing four felony and four misdemeanor counts of possession of a forged instrument and possession of stolen property.

Authorities say the prescriptions were usually for OxyContin and were filled more than 100 times over a 2 1/2 year period. Police say most were also submitted to her insurance company for reimbursement.

Typically, just one such legal prescription is dispensed for a one month period, according to authorities. But they say Bernard obtained as many as three in one week.
