A driver is hospitalized after his car crashed through the main entrance of a fast food restaurant on Long Island, stopping just short of the food counter. No one else was hurt.

Officials and a witness said the driver lost control of his Hyundai Elantra around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, jumped the curb and crashed into the KFC restaurant in Patchogue.

Three employees were behind the counter and two customers had just left the area.

The driver was not immediately identified. He was airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center.
