A shooting standoff that closed a North Jersey elementary school ended peacefully with the arrest of a Parsippany man after police stormed the home he was holed up Tuesday afternoon.Police arrested Maloy D. Amador, 26, around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday after police forcefully entered his home, according to the Morris County Prosecutor's Office.

Authorities had been at the home since shortly after 3 a.m., when a woman reported that Amador, her boyfriend, discharged a gun in the home they share and threatened her, officials said.

The woman was able to call police after escaping when Amador fell asleep, police said.

Authorities blocked off the area around the home, closed the school and two nearby day care centers during the standoff Tuesday morning.

When they finally broke in the home, police found Amador on a bed in the house's basement, with two semiautomatic handguns, ammunition and knives, officials said. He was taken into custody without incident.

Prosecutors said Amador will likely face kidnapping, restraint, aggravated assault, terrorist threats and weapons charges.

A message on the school district's Web site said due to a "police situation" the school is closed and students would be bused to another elementary school for classes.
