Tavern on the Green settles suit

NEW YORK The agreement settles an EEOC lawsuit which said the harassment included groping, graphic comments and demands for various sex acts. It also said black and Hispanic employees were subjected to slurs and ridicule of their accents.

It said the activities occurred between Jan. 1, 1999 and Sept. 24, 2007.

An attorney for the restaurant did not immediately return a call for comment. Tavern on the Green previously has stated that it complies with all anti-discrimination and sexual harassment laws.

In addition to the $2.2 million claim fund for victims of the harassment or retaliation, the restaurant will establish an employee complaint hotline; distribute a revised policy against discrimination and retaliation; and provide employee training on the issue. ---
