Hundreds without power in NYC after storms

Several hundred Con Edison customers in Queens, Brooklyn and Westchester are without electricity due to downed power lines caused by severe storms. There were 291 Con Ed customers without power in Westchester as of Sunday afternoon. Almost half of those were in Rye.

There were 167 customers without power in Queens and 98 in Brooklyn.

Con Ed says power should be restored by 9 p.m.

The Long Island Power Authority says just 97 of its customers are without power, 58 of them in Hempstead.

Ferocious thunderstorms briefly knocked out Nassau County's 911 system on Saturday and swamped highways around the New York City metro area.
