Police say a car struck the girl Saturday evening as she crossed Rockaway Avenue at Glenmore Avenue in Brooklyn. They say the vehicle then drove off.
Police have charged the 41-year-old suspect with leaving the scene of an accident.

BROOKLYN The mother of Nacirema Brown says her
daughter is in a medically induced coma at Brookdale Medical
Center. Dakema Brown says the girl has a fractured
skull, bleeding on the brain and is "not breathing on her own."
She says doctors have given her daughter a 50 percent chance of
survival.
