Holocaust survivor returns to hiding place

NEW YORK - Shunkale Stermer Hochman of Lake Success, on Long Island, was a 9-year-old in 1942 when she and other relatives took shelter in caves, the last one known as Priest's Grotto. They hid there until they were liberated in 1944.

Hochman, who's now 74, says she is somewhat fearful of the trip. But she is returning there to prove to her children and grandchildren that good triumphs over evil.

About 30 people, including some of her relatives, will make the trip to Ukraine next week. An independent film crew is joining them to chronicle the journey for an upcoming documentary.
