The latest incident happened on Tuesday. Police say the suspect first broke into the home on 70 Beebe Street around 10 p.m.
He reportedly tried to steal a safe but left the home empty handed.
On Wednesday, the burglar returned again around 7 p.m. to apparently finish what he started.
Published reports say the homeowner spotted the thief in his home from a neighbor's house and called 911.
Police arrived on the scene but the suspect slipped away. They combed the surrounding area for several hours but ultimately lost him.
Officials say it is still unclear what, if anything, the burglar got away with.
Police belive this break-in is part of a burglary pattern that began in July and includes two burglaries on Howard Circle in Grymes Hill and one burglary each on Longfellow Avenue in Emerson Hill, Wilson Terrace in Concord and Knauth Place in Arrochar, said an NYPD spokesman.
