Bloody violence stunned shoppers and mall employees on Long Island. Around 1:30 Saturday afternoon, a woman stabbed a man on the first level of the Green Acres Mall just outside of J.C. Penney.

Witnesses said an argument between two couples escalated, and one of the women began stabbing the unidentified victim repeatedly.

Witnesses said she was swinging so furiously she also injured the man with her, but the scene got even crazier when the initial victim pulled out a gun. He didn't fire, but it sent the suspects and shoppers running.

That victim was airlifted to Nassau University Medical Center. Police have detained a number of people, including the woman.

Green Acres, which opened in 1956, is one of Long Island's oldest malls and houses over 200 shops.
