Brides look for ways to save money

NEW YORK Eyewitness News went with Joelle Garguilo who was dress shopping for her wedding which is not until next September, but when she and her fiancé got engaged last year, she had a job and the economy was robust.

"Now we have to be so much more budget conscious, I wasn't like that before," said Garguilo.

Now she thinks like a business women. She's comparing gowns that look similar but are priced far apart. She hopes to negotiate or get her favorite one on a sale at the wedding salon of Manhasset.

Summer Krecke of the weddingchannel.com says when a bride won't budge on the gown, she can save money by being flexible about the date.

Joelle's getting married on a Friday, and she's also saving money when it comes to her flowers. The centerpieces will alternate short and tall.

Another way to save, is to hold off on ordering that wedding album.
