Attempted suicide turns into murder charge

Authorities say a man trying to commit suicide plowed his car into another vehicle at an East Brunswick intersection, killing its driver. Forty-four-year-old Steven Osadacz of Spotswood has been charged with murder in the death of 46-year-old Stephen Fagbewesa of Old Bridge.

Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Nicholas Sewitch said Osadacz, who survived the crash with non-life-threatening injuries, also faces a charge for driving with a suspended license.

Osadacz remains hospitalized under police guard and it was not known if he has retained a lawyer.

Sewitch said witness accounts bolster prosecutors' contention that Osadacz caused the crash on purpose while trying to kill himself.

Sewitch said Fagbewesa was making a left turn when Osadacz ran a stop sign and broadsided his car.
