Possible mall kidnapping investigated

BAY SHORE, NY The incident happened around 4:45 Wednesday afternoon.

Police said mall security was called to escort a man who was causing a disturbance out of the building.

A 10-year-old girl and her mother were standing outside by the entrance when the man left.

According to the girl, the man was blocking a parking lot entrance when a woman asked him to move so she could park in a parking spot.

The man then entered the woman's car in the passenger seat, the girl said.

The 10-year-old girl told police that she heard the man say, "If you don't drive away I'll shoot you." The girl thought she saw a handgun, investigators said.

The woman drove off with the man. The girl did not see the woman, but thinks she's in her 30s with a Spanish accent. The man is described as white, in his late 40s to early 50s, approximately 6 feet tall with dirty blonde slicked back hair. He has a big nose with a tan and brown jacket.

The car is a silver or grey two-door vehicle, possibly a Honda. The license plate starts with BH or BG.

Detectives are asking anyone with any information to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
