Good Samaritan shot and critically wounded

BROOKLYN The shooting happened near the Best Ride Car Service at 1009 Avenue Z in Sheepshead Bay section of Brooklyn shortly after 4:00 p.m.

Two men were robbing a cell phone store next door to the cab company, police said.

The victim saw what was happening and tried to block the door as the suspects began to leave, according to investigators.

A 24-year-old man was shot twice, once in the head, as the two suspects ran from the scene.

The victim was transported to Coney Island Hospital in critical condition.

Co-workers said he had only worked at the car service for about a week. They said he is from Afghanistan and has a one-year-old son.

Investigators were looking at surveillance tape to try to identify the suspects, sources said.. The suspects remained at large Monday night.
